GenAI for creative ideation - is it more hype than help?
Is generative AI for creative ideation actually helpful, or is it mostly just hype? I'm a designer, and I've experimented with using AI tools to generate initial concepts and visuals, but honestly, the results have been pretty mixed. Sometimes I get a spark of inspiration, but more often than not, it feels like I'm just sifting through a lot of generic, unoriginal ideas. It makes me wonder if it has benefits or actually hinders the creative brainstorming process. I prefer the "old school" ways.

Questioning AI tools is always a good thing to do. As a designer, maybe you are seeing the shortfalls in AI that others can't. I think there are instances where certain companies get a creative spark from it. I remember looking at a site, Trinetix, and they have a description of how they do creative brainstorming here https://www.trinetix.com/services/generative-ai-services. Maybe it's a useful tool if used to bounce existing ideas around. Like the AI is there to provide suggestions rather than actual concepts? I feel like human creativity is far superior, especially when designers are experts within their field.
